podcast - "YOUR UNIQUE GLORY" - guest Gary Barkalow talks with Jim

"Your unique glory:"  What is the particular aspect of God's splendor and brilliance that you bring to the world?  What is the affect of your life on others?

Gary Barkalow joins Jim for part 3 of a seven-part series on "Calling."  Gary's teaching on calling addresses critical issues that spiritual gifts inventories and personality tests don't cover.  You will find his message healing, insightful, and hopeful.

Hi Jim,

Loved this broadcast. This is going to sound funny but it reminds me of a show, 'What Not to Wear". If you haven't seen it, it's about two stylists who makeover usually a woman to dress better and help them reveal their personalities through their appearance. One of the the stylists, Stacy has a mantra for the women who think they are not pretty. It is: "I am beautiful and I am going to share my beauty with the world." It is so difficult for them to say sometimes.

Discovering one's glory and bringing it to the world is a dangerous endeavor. Most people would rather not face it.

Hey Meredith -- it is dangerous...for the side of goodness. And...it will be assaulted. And, many don't acknowledge their God-endowed splendor, for fear that it sounds prideful. ...That couldn't be any further from the truth.

I loved this podcast. One thing that really stood out for me is when you and Gary said that for some people, their calling is to deliver a message but, for others, their calling is to serve. I think that’s an absolutely wonderful distinction and it helped me to see that my calling is really more in the area of serving which is why I don’t tend to be as vocal about declaring the message as others are. I believe my calling is to encourage guys like you who are out there declaring the message.

Jim, I spend a lot of time thinking about how I can encourage you. Believe it or not, you’re never far from my thoughts. I know when you get discouraged and I love being able to share a word with you that encourages you. I feel like that’s how my glory is revealed.

Your friend and P. R. person,
Aida

Aida -- you're an absolute treasure. I love the encouragement!
I also loved the distinction Gary brought up about message or service. He's brilliant.

Hey Jim,

You said, "And, many don't acknowledge their God-endowed splendor, for fear that it sounds prideful..." Yes! Too true... Even standing up for yourself is prideful in some realms...But, I am a fabulous woman of God and I know it! :0) I wish others would embrace their own special glory so they would spend less time trying to degrade others' splendor.
